Is there no such thing as a natural preservative that is?

I'm intrigued by the products of skincare and cosmetics that claim to be entirely natural. Some have a life with an expiration date on them and some are "almost" natural preservatives. Thus if we can do all these things that are natural how come we did not come with a preservative that is natural in itself. Do all things "natural" death? What about the resurrection plant? Please someone help my dilemma. Sorry if this is in the category wrong. Is it possible to have a natural preservative? How is it that has not been done yet?
