Does my child have an allergic reaction?

We went to visit friends today and did something I never do. She gave my son 17 months of a chip dip container and let him play with him. When we took him to bathe but had red spots on the cheeks, where the slope was in contact with your face. It was red bumps, stains only scarlet. My son has never had an allergic reaction to anything, except some baby lotions and soaps (and rashes were generally lumps). Only out of curiosity, did you have an allergic reaction to the sauce?
