Reporting to charge interest on savings bonds?

I collected in 25 U.S. savings bonds in 2006 and have a receipt for which has 3 sections. Section 1 = Customer Information Section 2 = Savings bonds-a list of all bonds and securities Section 3 = TIN Certification and Acknowledgment of receipt of client-states the following ... "I understand that the total interest will be reported International Tax Service of the taxable year and acknowledge receipt of the total value shown above. under penalty of perjury, I certify that the number listed above is correct my Taxpayer Identification Number and that I am not subject to backup withholding for interest paid to me or credited to my account "then signed and dated. Below that says "Please keep a copy of this form for your records. This form is not a Form 1099 INT" My question is, am I supposed to receive a 1099 INT of this interest, if not, how do I report it? I live in Minnesota if thats important.

When I have cashed in bonds, I received a Form 1099-INT for the bank. The bank should have sent the January 31 bonds cashed in 2006, so it should already have it. (If you have other accounts in that bank, I believe that the interests Savings bonds are in a separate table in the same 1099-INT interest as ordinary bank accounts.) It is definitely reportable on your tax form income, however, there are some cases where the interest is not taxable. For example, for certain savings bonds, using the money to pay college expenses.
