Organic Soap Making

Why is organic farming bad, if it is? We are told that organic farming is good for our health. Advocates have proclaimed the message that organic farming is good for the environment. How could it be bad?

It seems that, increasingly, life is divided into traditional and alternative. Each side claims their methods to be better than the other. Each tries to win people over to his side. Fighting traditional school alternative education. Fighting medicine conventional alternative medicine. Alternative subcultures culture classic struggle.

Agriculture, is also involved in a battle, conventional agriculture against organic farming. Environmentalists and health stakeholders assure us that organic farming is preferable in many respects. However, others argue that organic farming is bad.

Why is organic farming bad?

Research Results

In 2002, Swiss scientists of the Research Institute for Organic Agriculture, published in "Scientific" a study of high circulation. Their study, that spanned 21 years, compared with four types of agriculture. Two types of farming. The other two types were conventional culture.

Reporters quickly said the study showed organic farming is more efficient. Advocates of organic farming, said the study showed that organic agriculture uses 50% less energy. The facts?

1. Conventional crop is 20 percent more productive than organic farming.

2. Crop yields were significantly lower in organic farming.

3. These two facts mean that less energy in the farming were actually only 19 percent per unit of crop produced, not 50 percent.

4. The study of organic farming in test against the most current methods of conventional agriculture. Had he done so, experts say, the advantage of 19 percent of organic farming would disappear.

5. The current conventional farming with organic farming match when it comes to environmental advantages. Both are beneficial insects, produce less runoff pesticides and fertilizers, and reduce soil erosion.

6. Food quality was almost identical in conventional and organic agriculture. Advocates organic farming has long claimed its food was far superior.

7. Current conventional farming methods produce the same or higher performance mentioned in number 1 above.

This research is, of course, the conclusion that organic farming is bad. In view of this, the conclusion is that organic farming is not much different from conventional agriculture today. There are more other reasons that people believe organic farming is bad.

Organic farming can kill

Many took the Swiss study a realization that, as Cambridge chemist John Emsley, said, "most catastrophe of the human race could face this century is not global warming but a global conversion to 'farming' organic [which] is estimated that 2 million people would die. "

Organic farming can supply food for small markets, but how can power hungry nations? His opponents claim that the current conventional agriculture is the only hope for these people. If we move completely to organic farming, say, is doom billions of starvation.

Defying Organic Farming

Center Alex Avery, Director of Research and Education for the Hudson Institute for Global Food Issues, recently published a new book, "The Truth About Organic Food." (2006) In this book, Avery offers a look at the source impassive stranger and scientific basis for organic farming.

Winner of the Nobel Peace Prize for Agricultural The scientist, Dr. Norman Borlaug, says of this book, "The Truth About Organic Foods provides consumers with detailed explanations and direct food organic offer real health or safety benefits. More importantly, Avery communicates why the lower yields of organic farming and reliance on scarce organic fertilizers represents a potential threat to the world's forests, wetlands and grasslands. The book provides scientific evidence valid than conventional foods more affordable for families are healthy and good stewardship of nature. "

Skimming book Mr. Avery, one considers the statements below:

1. Organic farming began in the 1920s when a German recommended mythical animal manure because synthetic fertilizers alone had no cosmic energy.

2. Soon the rich decided manure fertilized produce was better.

3. JI Rodale first published his "Organic Gardening Magazine" in 1942, and organic farming and organic farming movement garden was named.

4. In 2007, proponents of organic farming are not yet credible science to support his beliefs.

5. Organic farming does not avoid pesticides. About 5 percent by weight of a vegetable natural pesticides, some of which are cancer causing.

6. The organic foods are more disease-causing bacteria. (The January 2007 issue of Consumer Reports showed that chicken Salmonella farming has 300% more than conventional agriculture. University studies have found more bacteria in vegetables from organic farming vegetables in conventional agriculture.

7. If organic farming, synthetic fertilizers that sentence, was elected by conventional agriculture, would have a choice. We could kill millions of people to reduce global food needs, or we sacrifice the wildlife habitat in the many millions of square miles so it could produce more manure.

Why is organic farming bad? Mr. Avery believes he has the answer.

Notwithstanding Mr. Avery's new book, I'm not sure if organic farming is bad or not. It is often difficult to order through the rhetoric and find the facts. I know that my ancestors had large organic farms. The product was good and it was nutritious. Before you can give back entirely on organic farming and organic gardening, need clearer evidence. You probably want to do more research, too.
